The Source is this same chain as a place you walk through. Each stage is a terminal beside a locked gate, and solving it opens the gate. The maze also hides data fragments with a bonus message you can only get there.
Your progress and score are the same either way, so you can start in one and finish in the other. If you want the maze to be a surprise, start there.

Everything in the system was written somewhere first. This is that place. Nothing here is hidden behind a single cipher: every message was locked, and then the locked message was locked again, and at the last gate a third time.
The rule for opening them never changes. Undo the locks in the reverse of the order they were applied: the last lock put on is the first one you take off. The workbench lets you chain steps, so each terminal is solved by building the right chain. Five gates. Each answer holds the key to the next.
